I am having a great time getting to know all these wonderful students with their unique abilities and personalities! We are working hard and having a good time!
We have been reviewing basic sentence structure, as well as different sentence structures and types. Ask your student about these concepts and see if they are able to verbalize the meanings.
Sentence structures:
1. Simple sentence- shares one complete thought.
2. Compound sentence- shares two complete thoughts.
3. Complex sentence- shares two thoughts (one dependent and one independent).
Four Kinds of Sentences:
1. Declarative- Makes a statement (.)
2. Imperative- Gives a command (.)
3. Exclamatory- Shows emotion (!)
4. Interrogative- Asks a question (?)
We have also reviewed many different genres in literature and talked about the first book report that will be due on the 23rd of October. The genres that they may choose from for this report are: Horror, Mystery, or Science Fiction. I will explain the project for this report this week.
Talking with your student daily about what they have learned and discussed will help cement those concepts into their memory.
