December

We are now well into the first week of December! We are working hard and having a great time while covering some exciting and important concepts before we break for the holidays on December 18th.

Next Friday, December 11th, is the due date for our second book report project. On this day, the students will bring their Paper Bag Book Report to school and present in front of the class. This may be a little nerve racking for some, but once they get going, it turns out to be an extremely rewarding experience.

In the next few weeks, we will also be covering the important process of the five paragraph essay. The students will write an essay using the complete writing process, as well as adding additional writing techniques that we have learned. Your students should successfully incorporate colorful adjectives, exciting hooks, and smooth flowing transitions into their essay! Please watch for the rough drafts that will need to be revised, edited, and signed by an adult!!

With the new trimester, we have implemented spelling into the curriculum. The students will take a pretest every Monday. Words that are misspelled will require a short homework and will be due the following Friday along with the post test.
